Same same but different 3 Sept 13

We are all well and slightly ahead of schedule which may see us in Samagaon (the end of the Trek phase and from where we will move on to the mountain) a day early than anticipated on Thursday.

Communications have been non existent in the canyon that has housed us for the last few days so that we’ve been unable to get our blogs or text messages away. The lack of sunshine and regular rain leaves everything damp and the leeches have made a show.

The scenery is much the same and no less spectacular than we’ve already mentioned.

Our walk today from Chisopani to Bihi Phedi took some six hours and we estimated that the distance was about 10 miles. There was a lot up up and down with an obvious shift in terrain from the hot and humid to a more temperate climate as we ascended the 300metres height gain over the day. The evening saw us participating in BLS (Basic Life Support) practice as well as primary survey of a casualty.

All the group have developed a friendly and banterful relationship with the Sherpas and cook staff, despite the language barrier.  A few of the Sherpas have had good reason to smile with Brad and Ben offering to carry loads, sterling effort however they were no match for the seemingly endless strength of the Sherpas. However Brad is still complaining of a sore neck, he is obviously not used to carrying 30Kg from his forehead.... Weak!
